Jean Moss and Chris Adams purchased Four Ashes from Jack's family on January 1st 2004, and immediately set about streamlining the company and improving it's products.
Both long standing employees, Jean started with the company in the mid 1960's and was married to Jack's eldest son, Michael (who died in a car accident in 1982) and Chris was an apprentice here starting in the early 70's, he bought his 1st Aston at 16 (A DB2/4 MkII FHC) and fully restored it. Jean and Chris still own an Aston (or4!)
Whilst needing to retain a link with a proud past an update to the business was felt to be appropriate, and the new owners immediately set about streamlining the company and offering a wider range of products and services.
Our paint expert, Terry Ellis joined us from a Jaguar specialist early in 2005. Phil, who has been with us since 2002 is our Rolls Royce and Bentley trained panel beater. His workmanship is unsurpassed.
When you next hear the complaint that no-one is training technicians these days, you can correct them. James Hipwell, (another of the Hipwell clan. Well known in AM circles) has now completed his training with us and is fully qualified and gaining experience all the time. He has built his own heavily modified MGB and hopefully will soon make his full competition debut. Our new trainee, Paul, has recently started his formal college training, and will follow James through our in house training program.
Chris, James, Paul look after the mechanical work, with Chris helping out on welding with Phil. (Chris has tig & mig welding qualifications to Stainless Steel food standard grade, which encompasses aluminium).
On electrics we have access to Neil Phillips (has restored his family's DB6) who has started his own business nearby purely to deal with classic car electrical problems.
Our Commitment to a Greener Environment
Since 2004 we have been operating a Hazardous Waste Disposal Policy* in conjunction with Grundon Waste Disposal to ensure responsible disposal of our waste materials.
This includes oil filters, oil, antifreeze, spark plugs, brake fluid, brake pads and parts, engine parts, oily wipes, paint and paint cans, thinners, tyres, car batteries, even radio and torch batteries and every conceivable thing that may be hazardous.
So if your specialist or local garage offers to give you your parts back for your perusal wrapped in a plastic bag you can bet they don't dispose of their waste properly.
*We make a small charge for this (so do AM) on every job involving Hazardous Waste, according to quantity of waste. |
